1915 Ford Model T Roadster

1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Sedan

In my opinion, the ’41 Cadillac is the ultimate tour car. It has plenty of power with its 346 cid L-head V-8 mated to a smooth 3 speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, and rear semi-elliptic leaf springs. In addition, it is equipped with hydraulic drum brakes. The 126 inch wheelbase makes the ride smooth and firm. This ’41 has had a charmed life. It was part of the Lindburg family collection for the last 55 years. The Lindburg family was the Cadillac Distributor for the Midwest and they  operated a Cadillac Agency in St. Louis, Missouri until 2006. Now out of long time storage, it is ready again to hit the road. The maroon paint is excellent as well as the tan leather interior. . The Cadillac is sitting on brand new period style radial whitewall tires making this car ready for caravans.  A new hartz cloth black top was installed this year. 1936 Packard Super-8 Coupe Roadster

 Specifications: Series 1404, 150bhp 384.4 cu.in. L-head, straight eight engine, three-speed selective synchromesh transmission, semi-elliptic suspension, four-wheel mechanical brakes. Wheelbase: 139"

 In 1936 the Packard Eight, Super Eight and Twelve continued to be built on an individually separate basis. The bodies on the Super Eight and Twelves were interchangeable, wheelbase for wheelbase, with only the interior appointments being different. The bodies also continued to be constructed of wood and steel.

 For 1936, the entire Packard range underwent only minor revisions. The models were known as the Fourteenth Series as the number thirteen had been skipped, presumably for superstitious reasons. The Fourteenth Series was the last year for Bijur lubrication, ride control, a semi-elliptic suspension, mechanical brakes, heavy vibration dampening bumpers and the 384.4 cubic inch straight eight engine..

 The Super 8 was given the new sloped grille with chrome vertical bars that were actually thermostatically controlled shutters. The shutters would open and close automatically depending on the engine heat. The fender styling was altered slightly as were the hood vents and headlamp trim. Under the hood the only change was the new Delco-Remy ignition system.

 This highly original Packard Super 8 Coupe Roadster was the subject of an excellent restoration a few years back. Sold new by Alberta Packard in Calgary, Alberta, the history is of this fabulous Packard is known from new. Accessories include radio, heater, metal side mount covers, Senior bumpers, rumble seat,  etc. The elegance of this stylish, very original Packard is further enhanced by its chrome wire wheels.  It’s impressive condition today is due in large part to the fact that this Convertible Coupe has been well cared for and maintained.  All the parts were restored to meticulous condition to return the Convertible Coupe to its former glory.

.                The 1936 Packard Super 8 Convertible Coupe not only has style, but a real road presence. In the 1936 model year Packard built only 1,492 Super Eights, which also makes this a very rare and desirable model. This Packard starts and runs excellent.  It goes down the road with ease and is a pleasure to drive---Just Ask The Man Who Owns One!

1935 Bentley Royale Custom 16 Cylinder

 

In the words of its creator, master automobile conceptualist Gary Wales, this 1939 Bentley Royale is: “Everything in Excess, Nothing in Moderation.”

Roll-Royce and Bentley built automobiles of legendary strength and toughness. More than a few R-R and Bentley chassis were repurposed with immense engines and scanty bodies. Powered by surplus aircraft Merlin V12s and similar excess, they were called Speedcars, and they were all of that, thundering examples of the concept,  “When it comes to horsepower, too much is just right.”

Even among those fire-breathing monsters, though, Gary Wales’ creation of the Bentley Royale Coupe deVille is an order of magnitude better.

Based on Rolls-Royce and Bentley components from the Silver Ghost through the ’90, its coachwork is developed from an original Sedanca deVille body commissioned by airman and auto racer Whitney Straight, The frame is a 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith.

The Bentley Royale’s  engine is a masterful construction consisting of two Rolls-Royce Phantom IV 5.75-Liter overhead valve Inline eight cylinder blocks with crankshafts geared together on a common crankcase, a design akin to Ettore Bugatti’s H-16 aircraft engine.

Constructed by Gary Wales with mechanical assembly by Andres Aranda, the Bentley Royale Coupe deVille is a masterpiece. A modern Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang, it has all the irrational thrills of nearly unlimited power that shakes the road and everything around it, wrapped in meticulously formed, finished and trimmed coachwork.

Vastly powerful but elegantly and comfortably bodied, the Bentley Royale Coupe deVille is on-of-a-kind, a statement of Ross-Royce Speedcar heritage and the Rolls-Royce and Bentley tradition of style, comfort and luxury.

1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Oxford Tourer

1921 Silver Ghost 40/50hp Oxford Tourer is a very early example of the Springfield-built Rolls-Royces. Its coachwork is known as the Oxford seven-passenger tourer, a catalog Rolls-Royce design built by its own Rolls-Royce Custom Coach Works. It is right hand drive with a 4-speed transmission in common with other early Springfield Rolls-Royces, had dual sidemounted spares, a covered luggage trunk, drum headlights, matching drum cowl lights and blackwall tires on body color centerlock wheel rims and hubs with stainless steel spokes.

 This exceptional Silver Ghost was the Thompson Automobile Company Trails car before it was delivered to J.G. McHenry, a Detroit attorney. Mr. McHenry sold the car to John S. Riggs of New York who in turn sold the car in 1948 to Barney Pollard. There are letters in the file from Mr. Riggs offering to have his chauffeur drive the car from New York to Mr. Pollard in Michigan. Barney Pollard was a well respected and diverse Midwestern collector of fine Rolls-Royce automobiles and at one time, his collection numbered near 1,200 cars. A section of his workshop remains dedicated to the care, maintenance, and restoration of numerous examples of the marque. Work performed under his care included the fitting of new stainless steel spokes on all the wheels as well as regular comprehensive maintenance to assure its continued silent and smooth running. It remained in the Barney Pollard Collection until its purchase by Robert B. Merrifield.

This early production Springfield Oxford tourer represents, one of, if not the most driver-friendly and easily maintained examples of any automobile built prior to the 1930's. This four owner car from new combines the desirability of a documented low-mile example with an original chassis, motor and body. It has recently undergone a complete repaint including the wheels as well as an engine and chassis detail.  Carefully maintained and exercised on short trips and at regional events, it presents unmatched motoring pleasure and cannot disappoint.
