Racing has been a passion of Robert for over 5 decades, so his
most recent honor was well earned and very much appreciated.
The Sports car Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) recently
bestowed upon Robert the top honor of Hall of Fame inductee. At the
recent SVRA annual awards banquet that took place at Virginia International
Raceway, SVRA president Tony Parella awarded the beautiful trophy and gave
great accolades to the work Robert and his fellow owners of SVRA did for the
organization in the early 1990's. The honor was a big one and will be
forever cherished. During Robert's tenure as one of the owners of
SVRA, countless hours were spent working to keep SVRA alive, growing, and
laying the groundwork for success. The groundwork established then is a
one reason it continues to be a success today. Not only were the race
weekends safe and well attended, they were big fun. Stabilizing SVRA, then
growing it and getting members involved paved the way for big things to
come. During this time, Robert raced in just about every race group from
his Alfa GTA Jr with Group 1 small bore cars to a 1969 Camaro with Group 6 big
bore cars and everything in between.
Today SVRA is the premier vintage racing organization in the
country with 18 events scheduled for 2015.
When you combine this honor with the SVRA Driver of the Year
Honors in 1990 and Historic Sports car Racing Driver of the Year Honors in 1989,
Robert is the only triple crown winner in vintage racing. Congratulations
Robert!
